Precision Custom Screw Machining & Threaded Components

Swiss-type and multi-tasking turning for print-to-order fasteners and threaded parts — from micro diameters to larger chuck work — with thread fit and linear limits confirmed via DFM.

Custom screw proof points

Diameter range you can plan around

Swiss-type roughly Ø0.5–32 mm; conventional chuck turning up to about Ø250 mm — confirm diameter and length via DFM.

Thread fit and secondary ops

Metric, UNC/UNF, BSW/BSF, and custom forms including Acme; optional thread rolling, heat treat, and anti-loosening patches when ordered as turnkey.

Gauges and CMM scoped to the print

Go/No-Go thread gauging plus ZEISS CMM or optical checks for critical geometry — scope follows the agreed inspection plan.

What we provide

Print-to-order custom screws, studs, threaded pins, and related fasteners — not catalog-only supply. Swiss-type and chuck turning with live tooling for cross-milling, drilling, tapping, and slotting in one automated setup. Thread method (cut vs roll), heat-treat sequence, and coatings are planned before release so fit classes such as 4H / 6g stay intentional.

Process flow

RFQ / CAD review

Upload STEP/IGES and 2D PDF for thread class, pitch, undercut, and critical diameters.

DFM

We review Swiss vs chuck strategy, thread method (cut vs roll), and which limits need gauge or CMM verification.

Material & process planning

Bar stock, heat-treat sequence, and secondary ops (roll, coat, patch) planned before release.

Machining

Swiss or chuck turning with live tooling; setup checks after tool or collet changes.

Inspection

Go/No-Go thread gauging plus CMM/optical checks for critical geometry as scoped on the drawing.

Shipping

Protected packaging; heat treat and anti-loosening patches when ordered as turnkey.

Print-to-order fastener evidence

Metal and engineering-plastic fasteners with patch coatings, knurls, and specialty heads show the range we machine to print — including PEEK and stainless grades. Geometry, thread class, and secondary ops are locked in DFM before bar is released.

Swiss turning and thread metrology

Swiss-type lathe turning a metal rod with multiple tools and coolant spray

Swiss / live-tool turning

Bar work with simultaneous tools and coolant for diameters, grooves, and threads in one setup.

ZEISS CMM ruby probe measuring threads on a machined cylindrical fastener

CMM on critical threads

ZEISS probing for critical diameters and geometry when gauges alone are not enough.

Tolerance and quality

Thread integrity is verified with calibrated Go/No-Go plug and ring gauges according to the agreed inspection plan — batch sampling or 100% gauging when that scope is specified for the job, not as a blanket slogan. Critical linear and geometric features can be checked on ZEISS CMM and optical equipment per drawing. Linear ±0.005 mm and thread classes such as 4H / 6g apply only where print and DFM confirm feasibility. FAI and MTR are available on request. See CNC machining quality control.

Applications

Custom shoulder screw beside the pivot bore of an automated assembly fixture

Print-to-order fasteners

Non-standard screws, studs, and threaded pins made to your geometry — not catalog-only supply.

Slotted micro captive screw with a retaining ring for an optical instrument cover

Micro and instrument hardware

Small-diameter Swiss work for electronics, lab, and compact assemblies.

Factory-new external-hex nickel-alloy flange bolt beside a clean high-temperature housing joint

High-strength alloys

Titanium, stainless, and specialty alloys where thread fit and secondary ops must stay under one process owner.

Custom screw machining FAQ

Do you only make standard catalog screws?

Most of our fastener work is print-to-order custom geometry. Upload STEP/IGES and PDF drawings and we manufacture to your specified forms and tolerances after DFM.

What is your minimum diameter?

Swiss-type capability down to about Ø0.5 mm on suitable materials and lengths — confirmed via DFM for each print.

How do you verify thread fit?

Calibrated Go/No-Go thread gauges for the classes on your print, with CMM or optical checks on critical geometry when the inspection plan requires it.

Can you add heat treat and anti-loosening patches?

Yes when ordered as turnkey: thread rolling, heat treatment / embrittlement relief where applicable, and pre-applied anti-loosening patches. Scope is confirmed at quote.
